In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon there are countless Items and TMs to discover whilst exploring Alola. Below, we’ve listed the most useful Items and TMs that you’re going to need to get you ready for VGC18!

Choice ScarfCommon battle item to gain a speed advantage on opponents. Increases a Pokémon 's Speed stat by 50 percent, but they can only use the first move they select in battle.Available for 48BP at the Battle Tree
Choice SpecsCommon battle item to increase damage output on strong Special Attackers. Increases a Pokémon 's Special Attack stat 5 percent, but they can only use the first move they select in battle.Defeat the Veteran Trainer at Tapu Village / Available for 48BP at the Battle Tree
Choice BandCommon battle item to increase damage output on strong Physical Attackers. Increases a Pokémon 's Attack stat 50 percent, but they can only use the first move they select in battle.Available for 48BP at the Battle Tree
Life OrbCommon item to increase damage output on offensive Pokémon. The damage done by any attack is increased by 30 percent, however the Pokémon loses 10 percent of their total HP after each attack.Defeat the Veteran Trainer Aristo at Mount Lanakila
EvioliteWhen equipped by a Pokémon capable of evolving, it increases their Defense and Special Defense stats by 50 percent. Very useful on support Pokémon.Konikoni City
Electric SeedThe Pokémon's Defense increases by one stage when Electric Terrain is activated. Item is consumed upon use.Mahalo Trail, and on some wild Togedemaru

Focus SashCommon battle item for frail Pokémon. If the Pokémon is at full health and an attack would noramlly knock it out, it survives on 1 HP. This only works once.Available for 32BP at the Battle Tree, Route 15 Z Trainer
LeftoversCommon battle item use to help bulky Pokémon. At the end of each turn, the Pokémon regains 1/16th of their total HP, rounded down.Available for 48BP at the Battle Royal Dome
Lum BerryVery useful berry that a Pokémon can eat to immediately recover from a status condition.Forage for berries at trees
Mental HerbIf the Pokémon has a moves restricted for any reason (e.g., Taunt, Encore), they can eat this herb to negate the effects of said restriction.Return the lost PokeBall from the Aether Office in Heahea City to a Preschooler in Malie City
Sitrus BerryCommon berry used to help bulky useful Pokémon stay on the field for longer. If the Pokémon falls below 50 percent HP, they will eat this berry and recover 25 percent of their total HP.Forage for berries at trees
Eject ButtonUseful battle item for teams that favour lots of switching. If the Pokémon is hit with an attack, it will immediately switch out of battle.Available for 32BP at the Battle Tree
Expert BeltGrants a small offense boost without recoil or move lock. Useful on Pokémon with good power and coverage options. Super effective attacks used by the Pokémon do an extra 20 percent damage.Seaward Cave

Smooth RockIf the Pokémon holding this changes the weather to a sandstorm, it will remain active for eight turns instead of five. Light ClayIf the Pokémon holding this uses a move like Reflect or Light Screen, it will remain active for 8 turns instead of 5.Sandy Cave
Red CardIf a Pokémon attacks the holder of this item but fails to KO them, the attacker will be forced to switch out. A sometimes used item to force out an opponent who has set up some offensive power.From Looker at Poni Plains / Available for 32BP at the Battle Tree
Safety GogglesPrevents the Pokémon holding it from taking any damage from the weather. It also makes that Pokémon immune to powder moves, such as Spore and Rage Powder. Commonly used on Pokémon that would otherwise have trouble against Pokémon like Amoonguss.Haina Desert / Available for 48BP at the Battle Tree
Terrain ExtenderIf the Pokémon holding this uses a terrain move, it will last for eight turns instead of five. This also affects the Terrain Surge abilities.Resolution Cave / Available for 48BP at the Battle Tree
Thick ClubWhen held by Cubone or Marowak, their Attack stat is doubled.Found on wild Cubone or Maroawk
Weakness PolicyThe Pokémon's Attack and Special attack is increased by two stages whenever they take damage from a super effective move. Item is consumed on use. This can be useful on a Pokémon with sturdy defences but several weaknesses.Available for 32BP at the Battle Tree
Adrenaline OrbThe Pokémon's Speed stat is increased by one stage when intimidated. Item is consumed on use. This item can be very useful on Pokémon with the ability Defiant or Competitive.Available for $300 at Pokemon Centers
Protective PadsThese pads protect the holder from effects caused by making direct contact with the target. This can help negate Iron Barbs and Rocky Helmet damage, for instance.Available for 32BP at the Battle Tree
Air BalloonThis item, when held by a Pokémon, renders it immune to Ground-type attacks and entry hazards. It is negated after the Pokémon takes damage. From girl in the north of the gardens when answering the quiz correctly - Answer: Gyarados. Daytime, Available for 32BP at the Battle Tree
Rocky HelmetThis item, when held by a Pokémon, inflicts recoil damage on any Pokémon that makes physical contact while attacking. This item can be used to punish physical attacks, especially in combination with other residual damage.Available for 32BP at the Battle Tree
Black SludgeWhen held by a Poison type, it restores 1/16th of its maximum HP each turn. If the holder is not a Poison type, it loses 1/16th of its maximum HP each turn.Wild Hold item (Grimer, Muk, Croagumk, Toxicroak, Garbodor)
